Portrait Painting on Glass

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant.

The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person.

The idea of portraying a portrait on glass can be accomplished in a very easy manner.

  • Select a proper image to be converted to a portrait.
  • Transform the image to a two color mode (say Black & White; but not Greyscale) using any image editing tool.
  • Check out whether the converted image is recognizable. If not; invert/reverse the colors and notice the difference.
  • If still not  recognizable, discard and select another image of the person.
  • If the image is  recognizable, check out whether the portion to be drawn is the lighter shade or the darker shade. Depending on this select the color and background of the painting.
  • The image is now ready for tracing. Trace the image on glass using glass liner of a shade as per choice and bind the glass with a selected frame.

The following images gives an idea for creating a portrait on glass and helps on selecting the combination of colors for the image, background and frame.
